EXPANDING THE PRODUCTION
OF COCOA, SUSTAINABLY
Sharing the knowledge of best practices, Peru has the advantage of incorporating sustainable practices into its still relatively new emphasis on cocoa. Seeing double digit growth annually which brings Peru to be the second largest producer in Latin America, there has been an expansion in cocoa production due to the de-emphasis and move away from discarded crops, such as coca. Through the implementation of best practices, new farms can be sustainable from the start, which increases Peru’s potential to produce a greater percentage of sustainable versus conventional cocoa.
